Broken Sword 4 - F.A.Q.

This F.A.Q. is made by Steve, webmaster of Revfans. Big thanks for letting us put it up! You can also find the F.A.Q. on Revolutions offical forums. For the most recent news see the bottom of the f.a.q.

Q. What is known of the story so far?

A. The following is taken from the press release: "The greatest bastion of true adventure gaming, the fourth installment of Broken Sword sees unwitting hero George Stobbart fall in love with a mysterious and beautiful woman; a woman whose sudden disappearance draws him into a desperate search for a nefarious artifact of great and terrible power. Unfortunately for George, it looks like the world needs saving one more time."

Q. That sounds like Nico wont be in it?!!

A. Don't worry your little head - Tony confirmed that "Nico is very much in the game, as you would expect." Deep breath now, inhale, exhale, rest.

Q. Will Rolf Saxon be voicing George again?

A. You betcha. Wouldn't be the same without him. Confirmed by Charles in an interview with TotalVideoGames.com.

Q. How far along is the development of BS4?

A. It's expected out in Summer 2006.

Q. When exactly?

A. No specific date has been set.

Q. Why is it only going to be released on the PC? The [PS2/Xbox/PS3/Xbox 360/Atari Jaguar] would be better!

A. This is again to do with the publisher (THQ), not Revolution. According to Tony "the platform decision is based upon sales performance of bs3" which were 70% PC, 30% console.

IF YOU WANT IT ON YOUR FAVOURITE CONSOLE, CONTACT THQ, NOT REVOLUTION. IT'S THEIR DECISION!

Q. Is there any art work available for BS4 yet?

A. Yep, there's Concept Art and there's also Screenshots. Check them out here.

Q. Will BS4 go back to being 2D, or will it stay 3D like BS3?

A. Ahh, the old 2D Vs. 3D debate rears it's ugly head again. BROKEN SWORD 4 WILL BE 3D. There, loud enough for ya?

Q. But 3D sucks! Everyone knows that!

A. In order to get a publisher (i.e. THQ) it is necessary for the game to be 3D. According to Tony, it is "very difficult in the current publishing climate to achieve a large development budget with 2d graphics". There you go. Stop complaining about something which Revolution themselves cannot change. Bitch to THQ instead of starting another post here as to why 2D > 3D.

Q. Will Barrington Pheloung be the music composer this time around?

A. Ben McCullough created the music in BS3, and most agree he did an excellent job. He will be returning for BS4, as confirmed by BrokenSwordRUS - interview in English on Revfans.

Q. What is Broken Sword 2.5? Are Revolution making it?

A. Broken Sword 2.5 is a fan created game. It's story takes between Broken Sword 2 and 3. It will be 2D Point and Click. It will be free to download. It is not being made my Revolution. It has been in development for a few years now. Check out their website for more information.

Q. What about BASS2?

A. Nothing solid is known about BASS2 yet.

- The game's been named Broken Sword: The Angel of Death.

- It has an Official Website.

- You can now read a press release on the THQ website.

-- edit 03/02/2006 --

- BS4 will be moving back to Point and Click, but will still be full 3D. Now all the 2D Point & Click fans will be half happy!

- PC Gamer "BS4 will be point and click controlled. Charles Cecil has confirmed that Revolution will be moving back into that style of game, after the third employed a rather clunky third-person movement style. See some developers are nice enough to listen to the fans and understand that there's certain strengths you have to play to."

Reported by captainbaseballbatboy, and confirmed by tony.

Rolf Saxon will be George again. No other actors confirmed yet.

The first/opeing location in BS4 will be New York.

Sumo Digital will be developing the game.

Taken from TotalVideoGames.com Q&A with Charles Cecil.
