Interview - Tony Warriner, CO-Founder of Revolution.
by: Rob - 15/8 2004

Broken Sword Zone - Hi Tony! How are you?
Tony Warriner - Very well, thank you for asking!

For those who dont know about you tell us a little about yourself?
I'm Tony Warriner, one of the founders of Revolution, way back in 1990.

Besides Revolution Software, where else have you worked?
Artic Computering, and TAG Computer Games, to name but two.

Recently, Revolution had to down size and you were one of the lucky few to be kept, how did you feel when you heard or were told that you were staying?
Well, being one of the owners of the company I was in a slightly different situation. The games development business is going through major changes at the moment, but I think that creating the new setup at Revolution will prove to have been the right thing to do.
What projects have you been involved with, within Revolution?
All of them!

Do you have a favorite?
Many of us from the old days have a soft spot for Beneath a Steel Sky. Not sure why, as it was the hardest game to create that I've ever worked on.

As we know Revolution is mainly famous for the Broken Sword trilogy, out of the three, what was the most difficult to work on and why?
3 was fairly hard because of the extreme time pressure we were under. 1 was fairly hard because it got soooo big. 2 was easy because the engine and tools were the same as 1, but with the benefit of hindsight.

What is Revolution currently working on at the moment?
All sorts - some I can tell you about; BASS2 (Beneath a Steel Sky 2) - and some I can't, yet :)

How long have you been working on it?
In the case of BASS2 about 10 years on and off ;)

Interms of art, what style have you taken?
Too early to say.

Will the game be in 2D or 3D?
3D

Finally to our last question, is there a possibility of a fourth Broken Sword EVER!?
It's looking fairly likely, actually...!

Thank you for your time Tony, I look forward to speaking to you in the near future!
